PEEK tubing

Do you have an overview of your PEEK extrusion capabilities?

Please see Brochure - PEEK tubing [PDF]

Can I have custom sized PEEK tubing?

Yes, Trajan does extrude custom sizes of PEEK tubing. Minimum order quantities and setup charges apply.

What are the standard outer diameter (OD) sizes available?
  • 1/16" OD PEEK tubing for 10-32 ports
  • 1/32" OD PEEK tubing for 6-32 and 6-40 ports
  • 360 µm OD PEEK tubing for 6-32 and 6-40 ports
  • 1/8" OD PEEK tubing for 1/4-28 or M6X1 ports
What do the different colors signify? Standard industry colors are used to identify inner diameter (ID) size of PEEK tubing.
Will the color leach from PEEK tubing? Non-leachable colorant is used for PEEK tubing.
What is the maximum temperature that PEEK tubing can be used at? The maximum temperature rating for PEEK tubing is 100°C.
What is the maximum operating pressure that PEEK tubing can be used at? The maximum operating pressure (size dependent) for PEEK tubing is 7,000 psi (483 bar).
What lengths of PEEK tubing are available? Standard configuration tubing is supplied in 5', 10', 50' and 100', 250' and 500' lengths and rolls up to 3000' continuous length.
What solvents can I use with PEEK tubing? Most solvents including strong acids and bases can be used with PEEK tubing.
What are some solvents that are not recommended for use with PEEK tubing? Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), methylene chloride, and tetrahydrofuran (THF) will cause mild swelling. Concentrated nitric and sulfuric acids will degrade PEEK.
Can I use stainless steel fittings with PEEK tubing? Yes. Stainless steel (SS) fittings are fine to use on the 1/16" OD PEEK tubing, keeping in mind that the smaller IDs can close up if you tighten the SS fittings too tight. Care should be taken to test and validate that your flow rates or chromatography are not negatively impacted.
Can I use PEEK tubing as a sleeve over fused silica tubing (FST) in a larger port such as a 10-32 or 6-40 port? Yes. If using 1/16" OD PEEK tubing, then you will want to use a two piece fitting such as the PEEKLok fitting as increased force is required for the PEEK tubing to bite onto the fused silica tubing. The sleeves will hold to 6,000 psi.

PEEKsil tubing

What is the bend radius for PEEKsil?
  • 1/16" PEEKsil, no less than radius 25 mm (diameter 50 mm)
  • 1/32" PEEKsil, no less than radius 13 mm (diameter 26 mm)
  • 0.36 mm PEEKsil, no less than radius 8 mm (diameter 16 mm)
What is the maximum temperature that PEEKsil can be used at? The maximum temperature rating for PEEKsil is 100°C.
Can I cut my PEEKsil tubing? We do not recommend cutting PEEKsil tubing. This is because during cutting the fused silica can break and block the tubing with small pieces of glass.

GLT (Glass Lined Tubing)

What is the maximum temperature for GLT?

The maximum temperature for continuous use is 500°C. Once you get above about 600°C the glass layer will start to soften, so that it might be deformed by any pressure.

Above about 500°C, the strength of the stainless steel will also be reduced.

What is the smallest ID GLT that we can make? 300 μm is the minimum ID.
How thick is the stainless steel wall of GLT?

Do you make GLT with quartz coating? We are unable to use quartz glass in GLT instead of borosilicate glass for the following reasons due to the differences in melting points of stainless steel and quartz glass. The stainless steel tubing will be affected by the temperature required to soften and melt the quartz.
